• Release the Upper Socket: Use the screwdriver to lift the clip only far enough to release its grip on the ball stud, following the fitting manufacturer’s instructions. Pull the socket off the stud.
• Release the Lower Socket: Repeat at the other end and remove the strut.

For fittings designed for partial clip release, avoid removing the clip completely. Do not force the socket or pry against the mounting bracket.

Step 3: Install the New Strut

Slowly close and reopen it, keeping fingers clear of hinges and mounting points. Look for smooth movement without binding, loose sockets, or shifting brackets.

If the door drops, becomes unusually difficult to close, or stresses its mounts, support it again and have the installation evaluated.
