How to Find and Understand Your Keystone RV VIN


Your RV’s Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) identifies your specific unit and helps your dealer or Keystone locate its records for parts, repairs, and service. On Keystone RVs, look near the main entry door for the VIN label. Keep the full number accessible, especially the last eight characters used for service inquiries.

Where can you find your RV’s VIN?

Start by checking near the main entry door. Record the VIN exactly as printed, or take a clear photo so you can reference it without returning to the RV.

A VIN contains 17 characters, including letters and numbers. If you cannot locate yours, contact your dealer for help.

What do the characters in a Keystone RV VIN mean?

Each section provides information about the RV:

  • Manufacturer identifier: The first three characters identify the manufacturer. Keystone RV uses 4YD.
  • RV type: The fourth character identifies the type: T for travel trailer, F for fifth wheel, or C for folding camper.
  • Model identification: A manufacturer-assigned code identifies the model or floorplan.
  • Axle count: A character within the vehicle description identifies the number of axles.
  • Check digit: The ninth character is calculated from the other characters to help validate the VIN. It does not, by itself, prove a vehicle’s authenticity.
  • Model year: The tenth character identifies the model year. This may be a letter or number, and the model year can differ from the calendar year of manufacture.
