The Giggy Box is a 12-volt power distribution center that organizes battery-powered connections in a weather-resistant housing. Available on select Keystone travel trailers and fifth wheels, it brings wiring, circuit protection and an optional battery disconnect into one accessible location. For owners, the key is understanding what the disconnect controls: switching it off interrupts connected house loads, while the breakaway circuit remains powered and solar charging can remain active.
The Giggy Box centralizes connections that would otherwise be spread across the front chassis area. This reduces the number of individual battery connections and organizes wiring in a labeled enclosure.
Its purpose is practical: make connection points easier to identify, protect them from weather exposure and improve access for service.
Equipment varies by RV, so check your installed Giggy Box and owner’s documentation rather than assuming every model has the same components or disconnect arrangement.
Depending on the installation, the Giggy Box includes:
Automatic-reset circuit breakers and replaceable fuses are different devices. If a circuit repeatedly loses power, have the underlying problem diagnosed rather than bypassing protection or installing a higher-rated device.
The back of the Giggy Box lid includes a diagram identifying components and connection points. This gives owners and technicians a reference when locating a circuit or discussing a service concern.
Use the diagram for your installed box. Do not move a wire or change a connection based only on its color or a diagram from another RV.
The cover uses captive screws that remain attached to the cover when loosened, helping keep the hardware together during access. Reinstall the cover securely after service.
On equipped models, the disconnect provides labeled positions for normal operation, shutdown and cover removal.
Use the ON position for normal battery-powered operation, following your RV’s instructions. This supplies the circuits controlled by the disconnect.
The OFF position disconnects the house loads routed through the switch, helping reduce unwanted battery draw when the RV is not in use.
However, OFF does not mean every connection inside the box is de-energized. Keystone specifies that the breakaway circuit retains battery power and solar charging can continue with the disconnect off.
Separately connected equipment may also require its own shutdown procedure. Check your RV’s inverter, solar and accessory instructions before storage or service.
If your switch includes a REMOVE COVER position, follow the instructions for accessing the enclosure. This position is not proof that all internal wiring is safe to touch.
Before electrical service, isolate the applicable power sources using the RV and component manufacturers’ procedures.
The Giggy Box includes a dedicated breakaway connection that maintains battery power independently of the house-load disconnect.
The breakaway system is designed to apply the trailer brakes if the trailer separates from the tow vehicle and activates the switch. It relies on the RV battery, so an intact connection alone is not enough—the battery must also be charged and serviceable.
Do not disconnect or reroute this circuit to eliminate battery draw. Follow the inspection and testing procedure in your owner’s documentation before towing.
The Giggy Box is designed with serviceable components, including the trailer cord connections, circuit breakers and optional disconnect. Labeled connections and removable parts help technicians identify and access the area requiring attention.
Weather resistance does not eliminate the need for inspection. Have damaged housing, loose wiring, corrosion or signs of overheating evaluated by a qualified RV technician.
For storage, use the complete shutdown procedure for your RV. The Giggy Box disconnect may be only one part of that process, particularly when an inverter, solar equipment, battery heaters or aftermarket accessories are installed.
If your Giggy Box does not have a battery disconnect, an authorized dealer can confirm whether the appropriate option can be added to your installation.
